ONE CHURCH ONE SCHOOL
DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.
DREAM KEEPERS WORKSHOP 2021

Each year since 1998, One Church One School has held its Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Dream Keepers Workshop on the third Monday in January, the official celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s, birthday. The Dream Keepers Workshop is an opportunity for children, youth, and adults to learn about the life and work of Dr. King and to carry out his legacy. An emphasis is placed on Dr. King’s Six Principles of Nonviolence. Traditionally, the workshop is an all-day event that begins with Harambee, a gathering of everyone to set the tone for the day with songs, stories, affirmations and chants about Dr. King. After this powerful opening, the children are organized into age-specific groups. Group facilitators engage the students in a variety of multifaceted activities that help them to learn about Dr. King’s life, his work: the Civil Rights Movement. Significantly each group decides upon a project to carry out his legacy.
The 2021 OCOS Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dream Keepers Workshop will be held virtually for one hour, Monday, January 18, 2021, 10:00am (PST), 12:00pm (CST), 1:00pm (EST) and can be viewed via Facebook LIVE on the following platforms:
